Getting started

Connect your first social account

How to connect Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, and YouTube to Lemonpost, and what to do when a connection fails.

Den här artikeln finns än så länge bara på engelska.

A channel is one connected social account. Connecting is the first thing to do after signing up, and it takes a minute per account. Your plan sets how many channels you can connect: Creator covers 5, Growth 15, and Pro 40. Seats are unlimited on every plan, so teammates never count against anything.

Connect an account

  1. Open Settings, then Channels.
  2. Click Connect channel and pick the platform.
  3. Log in on the platform's own page and approve the permissions it asks for.
  4. If the platform manages several profiles or pages, choose the one you want and confirm.

You land back in Lemonpost with the channel connected and ready to post. Repeat for each account.

You can connect Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, and YouTube.

What to know per platform

A few platforms have rules that surprise people the first time:

  • Instagram needs a business or creator account, and you log in through the Facebook account that manages it. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be scheduled to by any tool, ours included, because Instagram's API does not allow it.
  • Facebook connects Pages, not personal profiles. Same reason.
  • Pinterest asks you to pick a board when you schedule, not when you connect.
  • YouTube requires a channel that is verified for uploads.

Your login stays yours

Every connection uses the platform's official OAuth flow. You type your password on the platform's site, never in Lemonpost, and it hands us a token that publishes on your behalf. We never see your password, and you can revoke our access from the platform's own settings whenever you like.

When a channel disconnects

Access tokens expire. Platforms rotate them on their own schedule, and they always expire immediately if you change your password, turn on two-factor authentication, or remove the app from your account.

When it happens, the channel shows as disconnected in Settings → Channels and we email you. Click Reconnect and log in again. Your scheduled posts keep their place in the queue, so nothing needs rebuilding. Reconnect before the next post is due and it goes out as planned.

Common questions

Why does Instagram ask me to log in with Facebook?
Instagram business and creator accounts are managed through Meta, so the official Instagram API authenticates through a Facebook account that has access to your Instagram profile. Log in with the Facebook account that manages the Instagram account you want to connect.
Does connecting an account give Lemonpost my password?
No. Every channel connects over the platform's official OAuth flow. You log in on the platform's own site and it hands Lemonpost a token that publishes on your behalf. We never see or store your password, and you can revoke access from the platform at any time.
How many accounts can I connect?
That is the only thing our plans limit: Creator covers 5 channels, Growth 15, and Pro 40. Seats are unlimited on every plan, so adding teammates never costs extra.
Why did my channel disconnect on its own?
Platforms expire access tokens periodically, and they always expire early if you change your password or revoke access. Reconnect the channel from Settings and your scheduled posts keep their place in the queue.
