Buffer alternative
The Buffer alternative for teams that outgrew per-channel pricing
Buffer is a good scheduler. It's clean, the free plan is real, and for one person with three channels it's hard to beat. Most people searching for a Buffer alternative aren't unhappy with the product. They've hit one of two walls: the bill grows with every channel they connect, or the features they need (approvals, branded reports, more than one user) only exist on the Team plan at $10 per channel per month.
This page is honest about both tools. It shows where Buffer wins, where it doesn't, what a real agency setup costs on each, and what to look at if neither fits.
Where Buffer is the right call
A solo creator or founder with up to three channels should probably stay on Buffer's free plan. Ten scheduled posts per channel is enough for a weekly cadence, and nothing here beats free.
One person with five channels who never needs approvals pays $25 a month on Buffer Essentials. That's less than Lemonpost's Creator plan, and the composer, queue, and analytics are all there.
Buffer also connects to Mastodon and Google Business Profile, which Lemonpost doesn't. If either is core to you, that decides it.
Where Buffer starts to cost you
The bill is a multiplication
Buffer's price is per channel. An agency with three clients on five platforms each has 15 channels, and every one of them is a line on the invoice. Add a client and the price goes up again.
Approvals and a second user mean the Team plan
Anyone besides you logging in, any client sign-off before a post goes live, and any branded report requires Team, which doubles the per-channel price from $5 to $10.
No client review without a login
Buffer's approval flow lives inside Buffer. Your client needs an account and a walkthrough. Most clients want a link on their phone with an approve button.
Reports are branded, not white-label
Team adds your logo and a cover page. The report still reads as a Buffer export, which is fine for internal use and awkward for a client deliverable.

What a small agency actually pays
Take a three-person agency with three clients. Each client has Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and a YouTube channel: 15 channels. Two clients want to approve posts before they go live, and everyone wants a monthly report with the agency's logo on it.
On Buffer that means the Team plan for every channel. On Lemonpost it's the Growth plan.
| Buffer | Lemonpost | |
|---|---|---|
| Plan | Team, 15 channels | Growth |
| Monthly price | $150 (15 × $10) | $99 |
| Yearly price | $1,800 (15 × $120) | $990 |
| Adding a fourth client (5 channels) | +$50 per month | $0 until you pass 15 channels |
| Adding two more team members | $0 | $0 |
| Client approval | In Buffer, client needs an account | Review link, no account |
Buffer discounts channels above 10, and does not publish the exact rate, so the Team figure is a ceiling. Prices read from each vendor's pricing page on the date shown at the bottom of this page.
Switching from Buffer takes an afternoon
- 1
Export your Buffer queue as CSV, or just screenshot the next two weeks so nothing slips.
- 2
Connect the same channels in Lemonpost. Each platform asks you to log in once.
- 3
Import the CSV with bulk scheduling, or rebuild the queue with posting slots so future posts fill themselves in.
- 4
Send each client their review link and ask them to approve one test post.
- 5
Keep Buffer running until the first Lemonpost post has published, then cancel.
When to stay with Buffer
Stay if you're one person on the free plan, if you need Mastodon or Google Business Profile, or if your channel count is small and you'll never need a second seat. Buffer's product is good, and switching costs a day you don't need to spend.

FAQ
Buffer alternative questions
Metricool and Pallyy both have free plans with post limits (20 and 15 posts per month). Lemonpost has a 7-day trial instead of a free plan. Buffer's own free plan, 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each, is still the most generous for one person.
For one person with up to 5 channels and no approvals, Buffer Essentials ($25 for 5 channels) is cheaper than Lemonpost Creator ($29). For a team with approvals and 15 channels, Lemonpost Growth ($99) is cheaper than Buffer Team ($150 before Buffer's volume discount).
Yes. Lemonpost has a recurring posting queue with timezone-aware slots and a reshuffle button, plus a drag-and-drop month and week calendar.
Export them as CSV from Buffer, map the columns in Lemonpost's bulk scheduler, and every row is validated before import. Media has to be a public URL; text-only rows can get media attached after import.
Lemonpost publishes to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, and Bluesky. Buffer adds Mastodon and Google Business Profile. Neither supports Snapchat.
