A real approval workflow, not a shared inbox
Roles decide who needs a sign-off, a review state holds posts back until they get one, and every decision is logged. Clients join through a link, no account required.
Roles that fit a team
Owner, admin, member, and contributor. Contributors write and submit, but a teammate has to approve before anything goes out. Everyone else can publish on their own.
Per-brand approval policy
Choose the rule for each brand: no approvals, contributors only, or every post waits for someone who did not write it. Strict for the client that needs it, relaxed for the one that does not.
Posts held until approved
A post in review cannot be scheduled or published until it is approved. Reject it and it goes back for edits. Nothing slips out early because it was sitting in review.
No-login client review links
Send a client one link to their review feed. They read the post, leave a comment, and approve or request changes, all without creating an account or taking a seat.
How it works
From draft to approved in four steps
- 1
Set the policy
In each brand, pick who needs a sign-off: nobody, contributors only, or every post. Invite teammates as owner, admin, member, or contributor.
- 2
Submit for review
The writer drafts a post and submits it. It moves to pending and can be assigned to a specific approver, so the right person sees it.
- 3
Approve or request changes
A teammate or the client opens the post, adds notes on the review thread, and approves or rejects. Rejected posts go back to draft for edits.
- 4
Schedule the approved post
Approval unlocks scheduling. Send the post to the calendar or the queue, or publish it now, straight to any of the nine platforms.

The review queue
Everything waiting on you, in one place
The approvals view lists every post in review across your brands, so nothing waits in a DM or gets lost in a spreadsheet. Open one to read it, comment, and decide.
One list per team. See what is pending, who wrote it, and which brand it belongs to at a glance.
Assign an approver. Send a post to a specific person so the right teammate is the one signing off.
Comment thread on every post. Feedback lives on the post, not in a chat app, so context never gets separated from the work.

The client review link
Your client signs off with a link, not a login
Create a review link for a brand and send it over. Your client sees that brand's review feed, comments, and approves, without an account. Turn approval on or off, add a label, and set it to expire.
No account, no seat. Clients review through the link alone, so you never pay for a seat they use twice a month.
You choose what they can do. Let a client approve, or keep it comment-only so sign-off stays with your team.
Every decision is logged. Who approved, who rejected, and any note is recorded on the post, so there is a clear trail.

What is a social media approval workflow?
A social media approval workflow is the set of steps a post goes through before it is allowed to publish: someone drafts it, someone else reviews it, and only an approved post can be scheduled. It replaces the informal version most teams start with, where approvals happen in Slack or email and a post goes out late, unapproved, or not at all.
Why teams use an approval process
The risk of posting from a shared account is that the wrong thing goes out, or the right thing goes out before a client has seen it. An approval process fixes that by making review a required step, not a favor. In Lemonpost, a post in review cannot be scheduled or published until it is approved, so the rule is enforced by the tool instead of by memory.
How do clients approve posts without an account?
Agencies lose hours to sending screenshots and chasing sign-off over email. A no-login review link removes that. You create a link for the brand, the client opens it, reads the post in context, leaves a comment, and approves or asks for a change. There is no password to set up and no seat to buy, which is why it works for the client who only checks in once a week.
Roles and who can publish
Not everyone on a team should be able to publish. Lemonpost has four roles: owner and admin manage the team, members write and publish, and contributors write but always have their work approved first. You set an approval policy per brand, so one client can require a sign-off on every post while another lets the team move fast. Unlimited seats on every plan means you never ration invitations to stay under a cap.
Keeping a record of who approved what
When something does go wrong, the first question is who signed off. Every submit, approval, rejection, and note in Lemonpost is recorded on the post itself, whether it came from a teammate or a client through a review link. That audit trail turns a finger-pointing conversation into a quick look at the history.
Approve once, publish everywhere
An approved post is ready for every network you connect. Sign off once, then schedule it across all nine platforms Lemonpost publishes to.

FAQ
Approval and client review questions, answered
It is the review step a post goes through before it can publish. In Lemonpost, a writer submits a draft, a teammate or client approves or rejects it, and only an approved post can be scheduled or published. It replaces approvals that happen ad hoc in Slack or email.
Yes. You create a review link for a brand and send it to your client. They open it, see that brand's posts in review, leave comments, and approve or request changes, all without an account and without taking a seat on your plan.
Four: owner and admin manage the team and its brands, members can write and publish, and contributors write but always have their posts approved by a teammate before anything goes out. You assign roles when you invite people or change them later.
Only if you want it to. Each brand has its own approval policy: off so nobody waits, contributors only so just their posts need a sign-off, or every post so nothing publishes without an OK from someone who did not write it.
It is held. A post that is pending review cannot be scheduled, queued, or published until it is approved. If it is rejected it goes back to draft for edits, and the author can withdraw it from review at any time to make changes.
Yes. When you create a review link you decide whether the client can approve posts or can only leave comments, so final sign-off stays with your team when you need it to.
Every action on a post, submitted, approved, rejected, and any note, is recorded on the post itself, whether it came from a teammate or a client through a review link. That gives you a clear trail of who signed off and when.
Teammates are unlimited on every plan, so you never pay per seat. Clients review through a no-login link and do not take a seat at all.
Approval workflows, roles, and client review links are included on the Growth and Pro plans. The Creator plan covers scheduling and publishing; approvals start at Growth. See the pricing page for the full comparison.
Yes. The review rule is enforced where posts are created, so a post drafted through the API or an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT still waits for approval if the brand's policy requires it.
